I think I’m in Love….. But I Wanna Be a Paperback Writer…….?
Why is it that the only decent new songs are watered down, simple versions of old songs with a lot less complexity and trite lyrics?
I know they ripped off hooks and chord sequences in my day too – technically « Stray Cat Strut » is « Walk Don’t Run » by the Ventures, for example – but at least they changed the tempo, the lyrics and the whole theme of the song.
And Sheryl Crow – ALL of her good songs are blatant rip-offs. All I Wanna Do is Stuck In the Middle with You.
If you’re gonna rip someone off, rip off Willie Dixon and Robert Johnson like they did in the 1960s and 1970s!
I agree. Where would Clapton be without Johnson?…well he’d still kick butt, but with more talent than any other « musician » today.
