How do you get an original choral arrangement score published and publicly noticed?
I live in Indiana, and I’m a music education student. For the past couple wears, in my free time, I’ve been doing arrangements of Traditional and Negro spirituals (i.e., I’ve got a Robe in Heaven, Rock my Soul, and A Jubilant Song). After doing this for a couple years I have gotten quite good, and I have pieces, three to be exact, that I’m confident are ready to be learned and performed. The pieces I arrange are not only acappella, but difficult, and would have to be done by advanced highschool choirs. I consider myself a cross between the late Moses Hogan and Eric Whitacre. My questions is, what would I have to do to: a) Get the piece published by Hal-Leonaed Corp. Mark Foster or something, b) On the required lists of prevalent concert choir competitions, and C) in the heads of choir directors all across the country?
