For the military, what rank would you start out as after taking the OCS when you have a doctorate in Music?
I’ve been hearing that people with a BA with a GPA of 3.5 and over were able to take the OCS and start off as an O-1. But I also heard that doctors with some amount of experience were able to start off as an O-3 or an O-4. However, my question is, if one person with a PhD (age 30 – 35) in music decides to be an officer in the military, what rank would he/she start out as? And whatever that may be, what kind of job would he/she be working in, in the military?

O1. only Doctors, Nurses, lawyers and Clergy start out higher. professional Direct Commissions.
and unless you were selcted to be a Band Director( i do not knowhow they are chosen) you would do whatever the Branch you join tells you to do. and at 35, your options are limited.
