Can you tell me about player piano by kurt vonnegut in detail please?
i just want to go to college.
Not in detail.
I didn’t care much for Vonnegut until I was over 25. I read Cat’s Cradle as a teen and liked it o.k., but didn’t really get it.
I tried to read Player Piano around that time and couldn’t get through it. I have it now and am looking forward to reading it because it is a darkly humorous view of life and the destruction of life on earth, which leaves nothing but the Player Piano playing on automatically.
Knowing that might help you read it.
You might enjoy The Sirens of Titan for a first Vonnegut read. I say so because it was the first one I read that really struck me as funny, after which I read others of Vonnegut, and they were all funny — funny in the sense of portraying silly people who didn’t know they were silly, all told as if the reader were a detached observer of those follies — as many people have to be when surrounded by conventions that make little to no sense and are still followed by the greater mass of society because they bring a sort of security — the security of not having to figure everything out for oneself: like living in a community with regulations as to what time your garage door may be open and what colors are acceptable to paint your house. Many people find great comfort in regulated lives: they don’t have to think about making decisions about things other people like to make decisions about.
