Help me learn how to read basic notes in music.. please?
Well i got asked to br in a band today because the group leader heard me play the piano (keyboard). I only know how to play by ear.. but i need to learn the notes. please help
There are four notes that you need to know first:
The quarter note (it is a solid black circle with a line attached) is the base note for music. It equals one beat.
The eighth note: It looks just like a quarter note, only there is a ‘tail’ attached to the line. It is equal to half of the quarter note. There is lso a sixteenth note (which has two tails) that is equal to half of the eighth note, or 1/4 of the quarter note.
The half note: This looks just like the quarter note, only the circle is white with a black outline instead of solid black. It is equal to two quarter notes.
The whole note: This is just a white circle with a black outline, no line attached. It is equal to two half notes, or four quarter notes.
