What are you thoughts on this Viking Metal/Symphonic Black Metal band?

Dragons Of The North wasn’t exactly a cool song, in my opinion. But, Berserkergang, Ironbound, and Crimson Rain all were very pleasing songs to me. So if you listen and one song does not appeal to you, check out the others because some might appeal to you.
Wikipedia labeled this band as Viking Metal/Symphonic Black Metal…I don’t know really but this band sounds nice. I like the clean chants in Crimson Rain and the piano.
I love the melody this band makes.
What do you think?
Mindbend, Windir is a great band. It’s sad the man died and the way he died! Walking in the snow on his way back home…

Woah….. Ok…. just listened to IronBound as was suitably impressed. Very very unique mix of sounds to me. (at least..if they are imitating another band, I haven’t heard it)
Great all across. I really like the style of vocals. Reminds me kinda of a Blackish Metal version of Joakim Broden (Sabaton), who I really like because of his unique singing style. No blastbeats… great solid riffs, and the rest of the music blended well to support the whole. Very nice. Key boards are KICKING.
Dragons of the North. I see what you mean Vashti, and I see whatKarl does I think. Musically, it somewhat puts me in mind of something fromt he Seventh Son album (Iron Maiden) but the vocals…. don’t quite fit in this one. It definitely doesn’t hit me like Ironbound did.
Crimson Rain is VERY cool. Vocal cadence is unusual, but not unpleasant, and i liek the almost whimsical keyboards… almost..because theur is something just slightly discordant about them. Again solid (if not revolutionary) riffs, and I find the Bass player and Drummer to REALLY be in tune with one another.
Beresrkergang is good, but musically seems to be the most « stock » of the featured tracks.The vocals impress me a little less on it. IDK if the singer is just able to change up to a more traditional Black sound, or if this track featured their previous singer. But again, the music is solid across the board.
As Karl said… very EPIC.
A pity they are kinda no more. Iknnow they are doing a reunion right now.. but they are different enough to make me want more. It’s a really good mix from what I have heard of Folk, Power, Symphonic, Black, and maybe a little Prog. Very very very good Vashti.
Now I am going to look up the Thrash band they formed in 2004, called Battered. http://www.myspace.com/batterednorway Hmmmm….Solid, but nothing as Epic as Einherjer. Maybe the old stuff was too much work? :/
