Am I able to play these pieces?
When I heard these pieces I was like, hey, that’s pretty good, I wanna learn it. I recognize that I am technically and musically lacking to play most of these but I was wondering when I would be skilled enough to play them.
Chopin’s 1st and 4th ballades
Chopin’s Winter Wind etude op 25 no 11
Rachmaninoff’s Moment Musicaux nos 4 and 6
Ravel’s La Valse (piano transcription by the composer)
Ravel’s Jeux D’eau.
Rachmaninoff’s Etude-Tableux op 39 nos 1, 5, 6, 8, and 9
Recently I have played, or am currently playing
Rachmaninoff’s C# and G minor preludes. Op 3 no 2 and Op 25 no 5
Chopin’s Black Key etude
Beethoven’s Tempest 3rd mvt
1st movements of Beethoven’s Pathetique, Op 79, and Op 31 no 1.
Debussy’s Pour le Piano Suite: 1st movement prelude
Mozart Sonata no 12 in F major, 1st mvt
actually, scratch La Valse. I don’t wanna ruin the piece by playing a transcription. No matter how good it is
I do have a piano teacher. Forgot to mention that
1st ballade, maybe…4th, probably not.
Winter Wind…leave it for a few years.
Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux, possibly
Jeux D’eau, not as hard as it seems, but still pretty tough.
Etude Tableux, I’d hold off on them…learn more of the preludes. C# and G minor are played to death–the other 22 are absolutely wonderful…check out the D major, c minor, f minor, b minor, Eb major, G# minor, a minor, Bb minor, Gb major, f# minor
Obviously, I’d run them by your teacher. You seem to be looking to challenge yourself, and that is great. It’s the best way to improve, but it must be done within reason.
