Claire De Lune by Debussy on Piano?
Hi, i’m a jazz pianist living in London, however I have a recital in July (14th) and I was planning on doing something different as well as my usual Jazz pieces. I wanted to do Claire De Lune by Debussy and I was wondering if I could learn it in time for the recital. I do play to a high standard, and this will be something different but I think I can do it. Anybody who actually knows the song thinks it’s possible, I have seen the score and started playing a bit, however I have heard it’s a really hard piece. Any help will do…

You can learn it in time. It’s actually not that difficult – I played it around the age of fourteen, and even then it only took a couple weeks to learn.
Tips if you want them: use a metronome/count beats – it’s easy to go too slow on the slow part and too fast on the fast part. Also, work hands separately for a while. Let the piece be mysterious and moody, don’t go for flashy. Get a recording and listen to it lots – you’ll learn the music quite a bit faster becuase your mistakes will jump out at you.
