Will the sun ruin my Grand Piano’s finish?

I have a Conover Cable baby grand piano with an glossy ebony finish. I take care of it on a regular basis(dust it off, wipe it with dry cloth, and polish it). My piano is right next to a window, which has a really thin curtain. If I draw back each curtain, the room looks more beautiful, and the window elegantly compliments the piano. I’m wondering though, before I do it, will the sunlight shining through the window ruin or dull my piano’s ebony finish?

It will most definitely hurt it. It will fade the color of the finish and the heat of the sunlight will also attack every wooden part in the piano causing it to dry out joints and lead to weakness. Talk to someone about transparent window shades or window film. It’s too big an investment to just allow the sun to destroy.
