What are my chances of getting into Columbia?
(i’m a junior)
I got a 2200 on the SAT, which I know is nothing special for Columbia, but I’m going to retake it and hopefully raise it to at least a 2250.
-4.2 weighted gpa
-vice president of national honor society at school
-9 years of piano
-varsity soccer since freshman year
-50+ hours of community service
-i’ve won several minor photography competitions
what do you think my chances are? please be brutally honest.
my honest opinion,
Just go for it,
stop listening to what people say (whether your chances are low or not)
you have a decent SAT good co curricular activities, all you need is a good essay (with a story) and some good recommendations.
get accepted or not at least u tried and when you look back on it you can look back with no regrets since you did try/
Columbia isnt 100% about grades and achievement,
thats why they created their own supplement when u apply
questions about your favorite shows, books, personal stuff and they also have thier own essays that they require.
if they find u appealing and you have the grades to back it up which you do, your a shoe in…
listen, in life preparation can only take you this far, for the rest of the way we need to take a few leaps of faith
Come a time you should just resign to the fact that you’ve done all you could to this point
just go for it.
your only loss will be the $70 application fee that isnt so bad compared to a lifetime of doubt and questions of what could of been.
Junior in high school?
still have time to raise ur GPA and maybe take the SAT one more time im sure u will touch ur target.
But when you feel that you are ready (ur heart will know) just apply, it will clear your mind when you do.
