Converting to Hardtop?
Ok So I have a 67 Impala 4 door Sedan. Hard to find in my area. I wanted a 4 door hardtop but that is almost impossible to find now a days. I am getting the car repaired (rust and paint mostly) but they are taking most of the car apart when they are doing that.
I know what needs to be done to convert it to a hardtop (cut the pillars, reinforce the frame, chop the roof a few inches and cut the window frames) but I dont know how much work this is or if its worth doing.
I saw a few other posts and everyone says to just find another car thats already a hardtop. Its a good idea but like I said before, its almost impossible. Because they are already taking the car apart to fix it, do you think I should get to converted? Would it cost less for them to do it while fixing my car?
If the body shop you are having do the work is of any worth, they should be able to do the conversion, fairly easily. Go talk to the manager and find out. Get him to give you an estimate, and decide if it is worth the price.
