I am looking to buy a Samsung N220 net book with Windows 7 starter pack on?
One of the things that I would like to use this for is to access TV via a USB receiver. This would be most useful for when we are away in our Motor Home. I am now wondering if I would have to upgrade this Windows Starter edition to be able to do this? I hope not as it would be all extra expense!

It’s important to consider all the things Windows 7 Starter lacks before purchasing a netbook. Windows 7 Starter does not include:
* Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the “Windows Basic” or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
* Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
* The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
* Multi-monitor support.
* DVD playback.
* Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
* Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
* Domain support for business customers.
* XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.
TV Playback is included in that list, so you would need to upgrade to a more fully-featured edition of Windows 7. The options may not be as expensive as you think, however – you can take a look for yourself by going to the Start menu search field, typing « Windows Anytime Upgrade » and clicking the first result.
