Piano/guitar sheet music books question?
hi there, i’m planning to buy backstreet boys greatest hits sheet music by Hal Leonard on amazon.
it says that it’s for piano/vocal/guitar. i expect it would be something like this: http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0040877 or similar
the questions is: which one do i play? the one line with the chords above?

What usually happens in pop music is exactly what you described: piano/vocal/guitar.
The single line of notes with the guitar chords above it is the vocal line. You’ll find the words underneath.
Below that are two lines of music, connected (the grand staff). This is the piano part.
Many times the right hand of the piano part has most of the melody notes in it, but sometimes the piano part is the background. So you can decide what to play!
If you know chords, you can play the vocal line with your right hand, and chords in your left. Or you can just play the piano lines (and sing the melody).
