OK, i’ve finished doing Alfred’s Basic Adult Piano Course 1. And realized that that didn’t help you a lot. So I decide to try The Royal Conservatory of Music Celebration Series 1. And it’s really, hard…
1)Any tips for piano?
2)Do you think The Royal Conservatory of Music Celebration Series is good?
3)It’s so hard for me… I know the notes on the page, but I just can’t play them fast enough, like I stop for a second and then I play the note, sometimes it takes longer. Help?
4)How do you sight read good? And play really nice?
5)I need help with practicing piano, how do I practice (ex: play one hand at a time and then play them together)…
I have already have a piano teacher.
I’ve been playing piano for 12 years and I seriously recommend to get a piano teacher but if you don’t want to then that’s okay. I’ve never heard of the Royal Conservatory of Music Celebration Series before but I can give you tips for practicing and playing piano.
1. If you want to practice effectively but in a short amount of time, play hands separately but also try with both hands just to get the gist of the piece.
2. Sight reading is not very hard but you have to know the piano keyboard backwards and fowards. Sight reading requires you to have the skill to not think twice about the note you see on the page and also to not look at the keyboard while you’re sight reading. I know people who have been playing piano the same amount of time as I am and they can’t sight read to save their lives. Don’t worry.
3. To practice sight reading, look through random music books and try to read through the music. And when you’re playing, DON’T STOP, keep on going even if you play the wrong notes. Make sure you sight read things that are too easy for you and try to play them at tempo.
4. To play really nice takes a lot of practice, trust me. So try to practice piano at least a few times a week about an hour non-stop so you don’t lose your concentration. Also listening to others playing really helped me get better as a pianist.
