knabe-angelus player piano does it have any value?
My grandmother passed recently and she had a player piano in the basement. It is a stand up piano. And I’m guessing its a knabe-angelus? Its on the key cover. I don’t know a thing about piano’s. The player mechanism is pneumatic, but I’ve never seen it work and I think its not functioning. And for its age. I don’t know. It was brought into the house I’m guessing late 50′s early 60′s. And there it has sat. Is this thing of any value to us. It is in some disrepair. If it can catch a good price, I will put in the money to have it fixed. Thanx in advance
Player pianos tend to have value when they work and sound good, and very little value when they don’t.
I can’t appraise it without actually see it there are at least a hundred details about condition that would affect how much work needs to be done and its value.
From what you’ve described I’d expect it to go for $500-$1000 for the condition its in now.
getting work done on the mechanical action for an old player piano can be tricky, especially for older models that don’t use solenoids. most piano techs aren’t trained for that. but if you’re in a big city there should be at least one tech who can work on it.
