Can anyone tell me about my piano?
I recently got an upright piano. I was hoping you great people on Yahoo answers can help me. It is a « Bush and Lane Piano Co » on the inside sound board as well as on the outside. It says « Holland Mich » also on the soundboard. The serial number is 62193.
Some from googling I think that it was made in 1929 since the serial number starts with 62 but I am not entirely sure.
There are also a lot of websites that seem to tell me this was a very good upright piano brand but I am curious as to the actual piano itself.
Finally, its is pretty worn, the keys are mostly missing their plastic white tops and a few of the keys don’t work. Any idea how much it would cost to have it repaired? From what I can tell there is nothing broken, it just looks like a few H-shaped wood pieces have come unglued and fallen over.

The piano itself is about 46″ tall add an inch if you count the wheels.

bush and lane is a well known company made back around the year 1900 in chicago illinois. you are right about the serial number…all the 62000 #’s came out in 1929.
the reason u see holland michigan on the inside is because some years later after expanding, they moved the factory to its new location in holland MI.
you are lucky to have one of these as they are the only piano maker to have started the upright grand…meaning it has the same easy, quality and perfection of a grand piano but is in an upright.
if the one u have has most of its orginal parts and is in a good shape, it will be worth quite a lot of money. also the keys werent plastic…then at the time they used real ivory.
(and the h shaped wood pieces are called hammers lol)
they also make the cecilian line of automatic players.
