Piano instructors: What books do you find most effective?
I grew up using the Bastien books and the Faber & Faber. I don’t like the Alfred books.
What book systems do you find most effective? I’m going to start teaching lessons.
I learned piano from Ontario Conservatory Of Music, and they strictly only use Alfred books. I don’t like them that much either, I learned for 4 years and I just gave up on it, seems like my passion is to sing more than I would rather play the piano.
If you go to a music store, they have a wide selection of choices to choose from. I saw your other question about preschoolers, and I would avoid any books with a lot of pictures. Yes, have some but not too many. I’m 14 and I find them so distracting! Alfred books wouldn’t be my first choice either.
