Crank Sensor Problem?
Hi,
I’m currently building a Renault 19, its going to be a race car. Unfortunately today with a very soft touch on the crackshaft sensor wire, the actual wire completly sheared off!
My question is will the car still start from a bump/rolling start? I dont necessarily need it to start on the key so if it will start from a bump then all is well!

unfortunately no it wont start.
the crank sensor tells the ECU what position the engine is in, so it knows when to give it a spark, without the crank sensor it will not know the position of the engine, so it will be unable to provide a spark to any cylinder, so therfore it will not start on the key, or even bump start.
i would imagine they would be pretty cheap to buy as it a fairly old vehicle now, check Parkers or some where similar.
