Beethoven’s piano sonatas by Alfred Brendel or Paul Lewis?
I’m talking about these two recordings:

The Paul Lewis recording sounds better, and I’ve always thought Brendel was the master of Beethoven’s piano sonatas. I have both recordings, and when I switch from Lewis to hear Brendel play the same piece, I notice how messy and rushed Brendel plays the piece.
I’m biased here I am afraid. Alfred Brendel is one of my favorite pianists and I have not heard the Lewis recordings, but I can’t see how you can go wrong with Brendel.
