Can you play Guitar from Sheet Music?
I only know how to play guitar from reading tabs, but I got my hands on the Twilight: New Moon Score sheet music book and I was wondering if I could learn how to read music that would be used for a piano and translate it into something I could read for playing guitar. If so, how? Are there websites that can help me? I will pick a best answer, because I need a lot of information!

It’s the same.
It will take a bit of experimentation to figure out where you want to play certain things at, but that goes along with any stringed instrument.
EDIT: I’ve noticed that people on Yahoo Answers don’t really care about the accuracy of an answer, but to say that the guitar and the piano are the same is simply incorrect. Vote me down if you want to, but you’re not going to change the fact that I’m right and you’re wrong.
Piano is written in concert pitch. Guitar is written an octave above concert pitch. So, sometimes the open A string will be the lowest space on the bass clef, while at other times it will be the uppermost line on the bass clef.
I can tell you at least three different places to play an A chord. Which one is best? The piece tells you.
Recently, I started playing « Toys in the Attic » again. It’s an E minor pentatonic riff with a D and an A after that. I had always played the chords at the 2nd fret, because I learned this from the folio.
I changed it to where the D chord is at the 7th fret and the A at the 5th. I love it. I should have been playing it like this all along.
One of the pieces that I play a lot (and I mean A LOT…) is the Andante from Moreno Torroba’s « Sonatina. » I still, after 30 years, alter the piece a bit, looking for a better way of doing things.
But while I’m at it, I’ll tell you that I learned to play the guitar mainly from music books. I had Kiss « The Originals » (their first three albums) and Rush « Hemispheres. » It took me about a year to learn to play Hemispheres all the way through. I learned a lot of other stuff during that time.
Being able to read music will help you to avoid some of the pitfalls that other guitarists fall in to. You will always be able to lift yourself out when you fall in a rut.
There were no tabs 30 years ago. You read music or you didn’t.
Learn to read. If your objective is to be an orator, wouldn’t reading and writing the language be a given?
I’m just saying don’t take that stuff as if it were carved in stone. Let your ears be the guide. If it sounds right, it’s right.
