HELP!! What is the best and easiest Music Creator Software?
One time I bought this music creator from Best Buy called » Music Creator 3″. It Is so complicated and the tutorials didn’t help either. If you have any heplful hints about that software that would be great. I have Window XP. Anyways, I’m looking for an easy software program that will let me record my voice or my instrument. Also, I would like to add other instrumentals too, once the recording is done. I sing and play guitar and I wanted to put it on a CD. Thank you soo much for the recommendations and tip!!
The top two recording softwares are Pro Tools and Cubase. With Pro Tools you’ll need to purchase a recording interface like the Mbox 2 or Mbox 2 mini. The Mbox 2 runs close to $450, but it comes with Pro Tools. A lot of people will recommend Pro Tools because it is used the most in studios. And it is certainly the best quality. But Cubase is used a lot with not so high-end studios and does an incredible job as well. A Cubase setup is more along the $200 range. Since you are just starting out, you could possibly get away with just using Cool Edit Pro (which you can download for free on Ares) or Albeton Live (this comes with a purchase of a lot of keyboards or MIDI controllers).
I’ve never used Music Creator 3…but most recording softwares can be confusing at first. But Albeton Live, Cubase, Cool Edit Pro, and Pro Tools all have a very similar layout. Once you learn how to setup the input / outputs and create new tracks, then your on your way. Also check out YouTube for free video tutorials with softwares. They have a lot of really helpful videos on line.
As for adding other instruments to your music, I would suggest saving your money and look into investing in Propeller Head Reason. Reason is the best virtual instrument software. You will need to purchase a MIDI controller as well to be able to access the thousands of instruments it has though. But with any virtual instrument software you can play piano, violins, cellos, pads, symbols, drums, guitars, etc….the options are endless.
I sing and play the guitar too and I use the Mbox 2 with Pro Tools setup + the M-Audio Axiom 61 Key with Reason setup. The Mbox setup allows me to record, edit, and master. While Reason lets me add the piano, strings, drums, and pads to my music. If you are serious into recording, I also suggest getting a small preamp for your microphone. The preamp will allow you to increase the sound without increasing the gain on your mixer or (whatever your plugging into) and will kill background noise to a minimal. Which is great when you are recording and or playing live.
Just like with all music equipment, things can get expensive quickly. So you might have to purchase things one at a time. Here are some links to the products I was talking about above. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
