Does anyone know of any good piano songs that are very reflective or you can relate to them?

what i mean by « relate » to them, is by when the song plays memories run through your head.

I’m sure that every single person has songs that replay memories, both good and bad, from their lives. Samuel Barber’s « Adagio for Strings » recalls the three days of mourning that followed John F. Kennedy’s assassination for me. For others, the strains of « Amazing Grace » bring back thoughts of loved ones whose funerals were saddened by that song. « Killing me Softly » and « There has to be a Morning After » are songs that, when I hear them, remind me of a former friend whom I met when those two songs all over the radio dial. « In the Summertime » brings back happy memories of my first summer vacation on my first job. As I traveled across New England, they cheerful ode to summer kept playing on the car radio.

My mother died at Christmas time. Whenever I sing « Joy to the World » in church, I have to hold back the tears as I think of her passing during that joyous season. Another Christmas song, ‘The Friendly Beasts’ always reminds me of my third grade Christmas pageant while ‘Pat-a-Pan’ reminds me of my seventh grade Christmas program in which I played the flute and another person tapped his drum while the school choir sang the song.

The opera aria ‘Nessum Dorma’, which does not deal with death, nonetheless elicits tears because of a TV show that used the song as a tribute to a deceased choir member who loved opera. I sat there watching the episode with tears literally streaming down my face as the song was sang. Now I can’t hear that aria without thinking of that TV episode as well as the beloved tenor Luciano Pavarotti who made ‘Nessum Dorma’ his signature song.

So, yes, there are lots of songs that bring back memories. These are just a few that touch me and make me relive my past.
