Burnout Wrap

Burnout Wrap
Vaseline (petroleum jelly) and Glad Wrap (Plastic Wrap) as car paint protection?

I was shopping today for a car bra, and unfortunately, I found nothing.

I am leaving tomorrow for a 4000km road trip tomorrow, and cant possibly get a car bra in time to protect from the bug damage I got last time on the car..

One shop owner informed me that he used Vaseline and plastic wrap on his car to protect it whilst he took his car to do burnouts..said he swears by it.

Can anyone substantiate this? Will it cause any damage to the car paint?

thanks

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Although the saran wrap might get ripped up if there are a lot of back roads you’re going on with rocks getting kicked up by cars in front of you. The vaseline won’t cause any problems, just will take a little bit of time to clean off. If you leave the saran wrap on the car for a long period of time, it may cause paint fading by keeping heat under the wrap and on the paint.
