What is a good price for a used cable brand piano?
Get the serial # of the piano and call a piano technician, and double check on the exact name of the brand, since there are several manufacturers with Cable in the name. They will have a blue book where they can look up the age of the piano, inform you whether it would suit your needs, and tell you what a reasonable asking price is. For around $100, you can probably get them to take a look at the piano and inspect it to make sure it will hold a tune (unless you’re just buying it for furniture, in which case that doesn’t really matter). $100 might seem like a lot, but buying a cheap piano that needs a lot of work done will be costlier.
The reason nobody can give you a simple answer to your question is that there are too many variables. There are handful of piano companies called « Cable » that have manufactured pianos for over 100 years, and with the ownership of those companies switching hands several times, the quality of the product might have varied significantly. Other factors involve the size of the piano, how much it was played, its age, what climate it is in (pianos in humid climates hold up much more poorly than those in dry climates) etc.
