I got my plant for $.50 and it is kinda dead can i bring it back to life?

One is a Dark Green Glossy Feliage and the other i do not know.
Should i trim the dead part off the leaves or let them stay?
I gave them a little plant food and some leave shine is there anything elso i can to bring them back to life
I felt so back for them I had to try to bring them back to life.
Anything would be helpfull Thank you

if the plants are big and in a little pot could be root bound and need a bigger pot if thats the case they wont come back unless you get a bigger pot
