When will I be able to play Shostakovich’s second piano concerto?
I know that this isn’t a very easy concerto, but I want to play this someday.
Right now I’m working on:
Mozart’s sonata K.332
Bach’s two-part invention number 2
Schumann’s piece titled « The Stranger »
Thanks for reminding me i.jones. I forgot that people these days seem to lack psychic abilities.
Anyway, I’ve been playing piano for three years, and I usually get atleast one of my pieces perfect in two weeks. (The sonata’s killing me, though.) I normally practice piano for around two hours a day (but I haven’t been practicing lately because I have final exams in high school).
If I’m missing any details, remember to bother me.
Well as it happens, I have been given the great chance to play Shostakovitch’s Second Piano Concerto with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (that’s why I’ve been absent on Y!A for a while).
I started learning the concerto at the beginning of October last year and have progressed quite a bit…I am now very confident to play the concerto with the Orchestra in two weeks from the 15th of January.
If you are motivated and if you feel that you have a good chance of pulling the concerto off, plus very good fluency on the piano, I have no objections. Try the concerto when you KNOW you are ready (and I can’t stress the word KNOW enough).
If you want to hear me playing the concerto, I will be more than happy to send you the recording after the concert (sadly, I am not allowed to upload it up onto YouTube due to copyright reasons, that’s why I had to take my Composition played by the WASO down).
