Leather Adjustable Piano Bench

Leather Adjustable Piano Bench
Back pains while playing piano?

I have a Yamaha upright piano at home that I practice on regularly. After about 10 minutes of play, I can feel an ache in my back, and after about 45 minutes of playing, the pain is nearly agonizing. I do gymnastics and have been doing some stretches afterwards and before which relieve some of the pain, but I don’t think I should have to stretch just to be able to play the piano.

When I have piano lessons on a Steinway grand, or when I sneak into one of the studios at school to play during class for extended periods of time, I never have these issues. I’m thinking that it might be the height of the piano in relationship to my bench- It’s a straightforward piano bench that is flat and cushioned with about 1 inch of squish- Not like the kind with those large buttons that pull down the leather. It’s not adjustable.
I tried keeping my back straight for a while, but that just moved the pain further down my spine and limited my expression in playing. Thanks though :

You should sit straight when you play the piano it avoids back pains and you should move a little of your back while playing so you won’t get back pains.:) that helps to me, i play the piano too.:)
