What is the best piano book for children?
My daughter who is 7 is just beginning. I know enough piano to get her through her first year. But since I learned as an adult I would like to know what book or curriculum would be the best option for her? Something that will make learning fun?

They are both amazing. The Hal Leonard book I use to teach a five year old and it is amazing. It uses pictures to teach first and then in the middle of the book it introduces how to read music. I found with the other books I tried they thought you how to read music STRAIGHT AWAY – which is fine but when you are teaching a child who is 5 – 6 years old MIDDLE C doesn’t really register!!! So that book is amazing – this 5 year old can tell me what a Semi -breve is and how long who hold it for already after 3 weeks and he can play Mary had a little lamb! It is really unbelievable. The John Thompson book is suitable for kids ranging from 8 upwards (I don’t know whether your daughter would understand or not – it depends on the child) but this course has been around for decades and it works really well. It gently breaks the child in to learning about MIDDLE C, D E F etc etc….with lots of pictures and well known songs.
Whichever one you choose is a good buy. They both should do a good job at teaching your child piano with the help of you as well – don’t expect the books to teach everything – you will need to explain things as well. I hope this helped! 
EDIT: I forgot to say that the Hal Leonard book comes with a CD which is fun because the child can play along to the accompaniments on the CD and the John Thompson book has Accompaniments there that you play (on the same piano) with your child – it really keeps the child interested and teaches them about keeping the beat and harmonies and stuff like that when you are playing with them – atleast thats what I found.
