Anyone played Histoire du Tango piano accomp.?
If so, what sort of difficulty-level is it? I need to learn it in under a week!!!
Please put my mind at rest… I’m a competent pianist, around DipABRSM level in UK terms.
I have this kicking around here someplace in my studio – I am a flutist, and my husband is a fine pianist. We like Piazzolla, so we bought 2 versions – the flute and guitar, and the flute and soprano sax – figuring we could just swap them out?? NOPE! The Leduc versions ($$$) are horrible – the soprano sax part is in the same written key as the flute part, and the PIANO part has been transposed (lot of sense that makes!) as well as POORLY transcribed from the guitar part. So – I scanned everything, and figured I would sort it all out – and then quit. There is a lot of other literature we wanted to play instead, including Piazzolla things. So – to answer your question – this is not hard – just poorly-written, and not rewarding for the pianist to play. By now, there are probably other version of this – I certainly hope so! If I can put my hands on mine, and shed any more light on this, I will – but we decided that this was just not worth the effort to clean it up and make it decent.
